What is the Regional Energy Concept FrankfurtRheinMain?

The Regional Energy Concept FrankfurtRheinMain complements spatial planning instruments such as the Regional Land Use Plan and the Sectoral Subplan Renewable Energies. These formal planning instruments can hardly control spatially independent aspects of the transition of the energy system, such as energy saving and energy efficiency.

Therefore the Regional Energy Concept FrankfurtRheinMain focuses on informal activities and promotes voluntary cooperation between public authorities, the business community and associations, federations and cooperatives. The Regional Authority FrankfurtRheinMain together with the City of Frankfurt am Main is responsible for coordinating, organizing and providing the required information.

    Cooperation of regional players

In addition to the Regional Authority FrankfurtRheinMain and the City of Frankfurt, other municipalities and districts have committed themselves to the climate and energy policy objectives of the State of Hesse as Climate Communities Hesse. The Regional Energy Concept FrankfurtRheinMain organizes the cooperation of the players in the FrankfurtRhineMain region, coordinates activities from "below" (administrative districts and municipalities) with initiatives from "above" (international, federal and state level) and thus supplements the local opportunities for action.

    Conceptual and concrete

Climate protection is a marathon with long-term goals. The Regional Energy Concept FrankfurtRheinMain is continuously updated and conceptually developed. Parallel to the conceptual work, realisation of projects is always a main focus.
